Fee-for-service data will be available for 15 to 30 days to provide sufficient time for customers
to download the data for long-term storage. Please, plan ahead for data transfer and storage and
let us know if you inadvertently need additional time to download the data.
As a courtesy to our customers, we maintain a copy of the sequence data for two years. This
policy is intended for disaster recovery rather than as a long-term storage solution: We do not
guarantee data availability beyond 2 months from the time the data are provided to the customer
and there is not an efficient way to retrieve large data sets.
The data are maintained locally for 2 to 6 months depending on available storage capacity, then
transferred to archival cloud storage for the remainder of the 2-year period. Requests can be
made to recover data within the 2-year window; however, fees apply for data recovery and
delivery. Data older than 2 years are systematically deleted from the archival storage.

Unless as previously specified within a contractual agreement, we will maintain excess samples for at least 120 days after generation of your data. If you would like to have these materials returned, please contact us after you receive your data, in order to schedule a day and time for pick up. For researchers outside of Washington University, please provide advanced notice for the return shipment of excess samples. Requests for immediate collection or shipment of excess materials cannot be accommodated. Ultimately, after the 120 day window, excess materials will be destroyed.
