Quantitative PCR

GTAC@MGI offers a wide variety of service for gene expression, genotyping, and targeted sequencing (16s MVRSION) utilizing either plate based methods or Standard BioTools (Fluidigm) high through-put methods.

Gene Expression and SNP Genotyping

  • Most qPCR services leverage the use of Taqman assays, but GTAC@MGI can also provide services utilizing EvaGreen dye and compatible primers. For low to moderate throughput, projects can be completed via BioRad CFX.  For high throughput projects, we utilize the Fluidigm BioMark™ HD System.  Several formats are available on the Fluidigm platform, utilizing their integrated fluidic circuits (IFCs).  Primary formats (samples/assays):
    • 48 x 48
    • 96 x 96
    • 192 x 24

Custom Amplicon Sequencing

Known regions of interest are captured with Amplicon sequencing.  This highly targeted approach enables applications for discovering, validating, and screening genetic variants in a rapid and efficient manner. This is accomplished by the multiplexing capabilities of the Fluidigm Juno and Access Array systems.  These applications are economical for large sample number projects, typically 1K samples or larger

16s MVRSION

The high throughput Standard BioTools platform is used to economically prep the 8 variable regions of the 16s bacterial genome. These are all sequenced and analyzed in parallel, using the MVRSION computational protocol. MVRSION will use the data from the 8 variable regions to call a species or, if no species is found, a genus is called from a separate genus database.
